DESCRIPTION:CRS ギャラリーでは、「The Color of Energy 」と題しまして、Janet Morganによるペインティングを3月10日から5月8日まで展示いたします。\nまた、3月10日、6時から8時に彼女を迎えてのオープニングレセプションを行いますので、是非ご参加ください。 \nARTIST STATEMENT \nWe think of our bodies as solid\, enclosed\, finite\, self sufficient\, contained. But we share many things\, visible and not\, with the world around us. We share energy of all kinds with other beings\, plants\, machines\, nature and the cosmos. We take for granted our life partner — our physical being — who makes life possible and carries us through this world for decades and sometimes for a century. We move not through the world but as part of it\, sharing breath\, resources\, spirit and life energy. \nMy artwork is grounded in the body\, the kinesthetic: movement\, music\, and dance — and in the body’s subtle forces — emotional\, spiritual and healing energies. The quest for the underlying energy source runs through all of my work — like the Sufis I find no separation between the divine and the body. And why is this work be important? We live in a time of much anger and violence\, and communication is often disembodied. The disconnect between ourselves and the natural world is causing serious problems. We need to come home to our bodies\, our animal-ness\, our human-ness\, our body-temples. \nMy artistic practice covers a vast range of work\, mainly painting and drawing\, but also community environmental art and collaboration. The art includes landscapes painted all over the world\, and a few large series of works grounded in the body: 200 large watercolors of traditional and new deities (I teach a workshop on making your own deities)\, wild women\, dancers and now art about the body’s energy. I have enjoyed collaborations with dancers\, scientists\, movement teachers\, and writers. I have taught at the Rubin Museum of Art\, The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors\, the Art Students League and the Canyons of Utah. \nhttp://www.janetmorgan-art.net

SUMMARY:Shan.Shui (山水\, Mountain Water): an improvisational concert in six movements
DESCRIPTION:CRS presents Shan.Shui (山水\, Mountain Water)\,  an improvisational concert of music and dance in six movements by cellist JunYi Chow\, shō player Chatori Shimizu\, crystal singing bowl player Miyoko Satoh\, and binbinFactory dance artist Satoshi Haga.\nThe performance is inspired by the paradoxical feelings that arise when viewing paintings in the Shan.Shui landscape tradition of China\, particularly scenes of mountains bathed in clouds. The typically blueish mist suggests the gently flowing waves of a tranquil sea\, and yet the vastness of the mountain ranges also imparts a sense of magnificent solidity. Holding this image and these feelings in their mind\, the performers will seek to transmit them in some way to the audience through six sections of about 10 minutes each: Solo 1 – Solo 2 – Duo – Trio – Quartet – CODA. \nThe concert will take place at CRS on Sunday\, April 22\, 2018 at 7 pm. Tickets are $25 at the door and $20 before 4/22 and are available online\, by phone (212-677-8621)\, and at CRS. Tickets for students with ID are $20 at the door. \nThis concert is part of an informal series of chamber concerts at CRS incorporating meditation as a means of deepening the connection between artists and audience and is the second such concert at CRS involving musicians JunYi Chow and Miyoko Satoh. \nMalaysia-born\, New York-based composer\, multi-instrumentalist and improviser JunYi Chow’s music has been lauded by the Financial Times for its “skilful contrasts in both volume and texture.” His interest in music explores the indefinite possibilities of tone colour and sound\, and features a mixed musical style based on classical contemporary music\, Chinese tunes\, Gamelan music\, minimalism\, and popular music\, amongst other influences. In March 2017\, he received the Grand Prize of Best Orchestra Work by Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra International Composition Competition. He recently presented “Stillness in Queens\,” a collaborative cross-disciplinary work with video artist Karen Y. Chan that was partly funded by the Queens Council On The Arts. He is currently the Composer-In-Residence of Teng Company (Singapore) and Vivo Experimental Orchestra (Malaysia). He graduated from Indiana University and Central Conservatory of Music\, majoring in music composition. http://www.junyichow.com \nSatoshi Haga has been collaborating with Rie Fukuzawa as binbinFactory since 2010. He also collaborates with Jen Shyu\, composer\, vocalist and band leader. Satoshi recently worked for the off-Broadway show\, TBTB production of Charles Ludlam’s “The Artificial Jungle” as Puppet Master. binbinFactory collaborated with TBTB and toured in Japan in 2017. binbinFactory will perform in France in July and will be in residency in Norway in October of 2018.\nhttp://www.binbinfactory.org \nMiyoko Satoh is a Spiritual Healer. She was born and raised in Japan. In her childhood she awakened to her spiritual awareness of the world beyond. In 2001\, she began studying A Course in Miracles and meditation further developing her spiritual awareness at CRS. In 2004\, she began offering spiritual counseling and energy healing work. She also expresses her creativity in different ways such as dancing\, singing and playing Crystal Singing Bowls. She offers private healing sessions\, counseling for relationship\, career etc…..\, and sound healing with crystal singing bowls.\nhttp://miyokosspiritualgarden.com/home.html \nChatori Shimizu is a Berlin based composer\, shō improviser\, and sound artist\, who constructs his works for a wide range of mediums concerning sound and space. Shimizu’s works have been performed and exhibited in concerts and festivals throughout the United States\, Japan\, Europe\, China\, and South East Asia. Shimizu has been awarded fellowships from Columbia University School of the Arts\, Institute of Medieval Japanese Studies\, the Mitsubishi Foundation\, Omi International Arts Center\, Soundstreams\, Toshiba Foundation\, Yaddo\, among others.
