SUMMARY:個展：Chris Fiore「This Mortal Apparatus — Photographs of Flowers & Cityscapes」
DESCRIPTION:CRSでは、映像作家、ライター、そして写真家でもあるChris Fiore による、枯れゆく花と都市の風景をテーマにした展覧会「 This Mortal Apparatus 」を開催いたします。様々な色や白黒をベースにした作品のすべては、デジタル加工により色を調整し、写真芸術の美を強調しています。作品は主に朽ちかけているオブジェなどで見られる美しさ、つい見過ごしてしまう優美さ、自然の美、人の手による芸術に焦点を当てています。また、わたしたちの心がいかに儚いいのちの中に永遠を求め、新たな意味を生み出しているかを伝えます。人が思考によって、目にするすべてを作り変えていることを考えさせられる作品の数々をご覧にぜひお越しください。 \n展覧会は9月14日（木）~ 11月30日（木）です。オープニングレセプションは、9月22日午後6時半〜8時半です。 \n開催期間中、Chris Fiore による無料の映画上映会も下記の通り開かれます。どうぞご参加ください。 \n10月13日（金）午後7時半〜10時  “Goodman” and “The Red Umbrella Diaries”\n11月10日（金）午後7時半〜10時  ワールドプレミア “The Ken Stones:  Miami” and A(DE)SCENT” \nいずれも席に限りがございます。ご到着いただいた順にお席を確保させていただきますが、ロビーのスペースが限られているため、7時15分より前のご到着はご遠慮ください。 \nArtist Statement\nThe camera is my favorite machine. To me\, the camera has transcended its nature as a mechanical device and has become something verging on a magic instrument. Capable of capturing the fleeting and the ephemeral\, of freezing light and stopping time\, of making the intimate public\, of telling profound truths and fascinating lies\, of imbuing meaning into the mundane and transforming the precious into the mechanical\, the camera is a collective third eye that has shaped the perceptions of a species.\nArtist Profile:\nFilmmaker\, writer\, and artist Chris Fiore\, born 1959 in Norfolk\, Virginia\, received his BFA from Antioch College in 1984. In the late 80’s he was one of the founders of the Zone\, a artist collective occupying an abandoned warehouse at 104 South 4th St\, in Williamsburg\, Brooklyn. Fiore showed at the East Village’s KOAP gallery in the early 90’s and in 1995 directed the underground documentary Trip and Go Naked\, winner of the Excellence in Sexual Theater award at Arlene’s Grocery Picture Show. He went on to direct the feature documentary Backstage for Miramax\, a behind the scenes look at Jay Z’s Hard Knock Life Tour. The film had a profitable run in theaters and is still occasionally in rotation on the Showtime network 17 years after it was made. Fiore has also directed documentaries on the making of the Victoria’s Secret Christmas Catalog\, the band Paramore\, as well as two prime time specials for Fox Television. His most recent documentary\, Goodwoman\, tells the story of Debra Goodman\, an activist brutally arrested for filming the NYPD. Featured in several film festivals\, Goodwoman won the Grand Jury Award at the 2016 LA Film Invasion film festival. He’s currently directing a documentary and web series on artist Ken Hiratsuka.\nFiore’s first feature film script\, The Utopia Virus\, finished in the top ten of the 2005 Final Draft Big Break screenwriting contest. He also wrote the Wassup Obama ad\, described by Salon.com as one of the most creative of the 2008 presidential campaign and winner of a Cannes Lion. He’s currently working on a series of film treatments for a Beijing based production company.\nFiore’s film work has directly influenced his art over the years\, in his use of appropriated imagery\, presentation of sequential images\, and in the cinematically dynamic composition of his mosaic photography. SUMMARY:Prayer for Amara: 音と旋​舞のメディテーション​
DESCRIPTION:CRSのお仲間へ \n9月21日（木） 午後8時より、楽器の生演奏と旋舞（円を描くように回ること）を通して、あまらちゃんとそのご家族、そして私たち自身の祈りを共有する瞑想イベントを開催します。 \nあまらちゃんは、CRSのお仲間ウィリアムズ・ケンジ＆小夜子ご夫妻の5歳になる長女で、2014年に脳腫瘍と診断されたのち、現在も治療や手術を乗り越え続けています。\nCRSでは「あまらちゃん祈りの輪」として、世界各地に住む約170名と一緒に毎週木曜日午後 9:30pm（NY時間）から10分ほど、それぞれの場所で瞑想と祈りのひとときを持っています。どこにいても心で繋がりながら、共に祈っていることを再確認する場として、この祈りのイベントを定期的に行っています。 \n祈りはCRSのヒーラー・佐藤みよ子のクリスタル・シンギング・ボウルの演奏から始まり、西村千子さんたちによるパーカッションのライブ演奏で音と心の輪を広げていきます。CRSのヒーラーであり「あまらちゃん祈りの輪」をリードしている小野永保子の祈りと共に、あまらちゃんの母でパフォーマンスアーティストでもある、ラーレ小夜子さんリードのもと、皆で旋舞をします。小夜子さんは、あまらちゃんへの祈りと自身の踊りの練習を結びつける動きを探求しつづけてきました。経験は問わず、どなたでも自由に参加できます。 \n参加費は、前日まで$20、当日支払いは$25です。参加費の50%は、あまらちゃんのご家族へ寄付されます。 \nくるくると回りはじめると、めまいがしたりバランスを崩すかもしれませんが、自分自身を信頼し、旋回を続ける中で、その中心にある心の静けさに気づくと共に、計り知れない大きなエネルギーに包まれ、繋がっている感覚を実感することができるでしょう。 \nIf you are quiet and in a state of prayer when you Turn\, offering everything of yourself to God\, then when your body is spinning\, there is a completely still point in the center… The heavens respond; and all the invisible kingdoms join in the dance. But the world does not understand. They think we Turn in order to go into some sort of trance. It is true that sometimes we do go into that state you call ecstasy\, but that is only when we know and experience at the same time. We do not Turn for ourselves. DESCRIPTION:映像と音を楽しみながら、、深く瞑想に入り込むことのできる、新しいタイプのマルチメディア・コンサート「Shades of Green in the Light」のご案内です。\nCRSのヒーラー・佐藤みよ子のクリスタル・シンギング・ボウルの演奏から始まり、音楽家Seungmin ChaとJunYi Chow による即興演奏、ビデオアーティストのKaren Y. Chan のコラボレーションによって、音と映像の世界を広げていきます。 \nThough often fleeting\, the awareness of stillness is like entering the wilderness\, where time melts away and the senses are awakened by subtleties that become magnified. There is clarity and spaciousness in stillness that encourages the mind to wander into unexplored regions. It is an opportunity to observe\, question\, or just be present with what is there\, or more importantly\, what is not there. Some instruments that will be heard include the daegum\, a traditional Korean bamboo flute\, played by Cha\, who will also incorporate electronic sounds\, and the cello and melodion\, played by Chow. The musicians will live-score Chan’s video collage during a 60-minute improvisational set that will include moments of stillness. \nThis concert concludes Seungmin Cha’s Asian Cultural Council fellowship in NYC. Tickets are $20 and are available online\, by phone (212-677-8621) and at the door. \n\nSeungmin Cha \n\n \nphoto by Inu Nah \n\nEmerging as one of the most influential experimental Daegeum (Korean transverse bamboo flute) artists\, Seungmin Cha was trained in traditional music and its discourse. A graduate of the School of Music at Seoul National University\, Ms. Cha has developed her career as a solo Daegeum artist\, the director of her music ensemble Shiro as well as composer. She is performing both solo and in bands as part of the indie music scene of Seoul’s Hongdae neighbourhood. Her performances incorporate traditional (jeongga and minyo)\, indie\, experimental elements. You can see the evolution of Gugak (Korean traditional music) through her as a traditional music performer\, who is at the same time\, a contemporary composer and independent musician in the underground scene. She received a prestigious Asian Cultural Council fellowship in 2016 and is currently living in NYC until October with ACC’s support. https://seungminchamusic.com \nJunYi Chow \n\n \nphoto by Cherry Au \n\nMalaysia-born New York-based Composer\, Multi-instrumentalist and Improviser. Chow’s music has been lauded by Financial Times for its “skilful contrasts in both volume and texture.” His interest in music explores the indefinite possibilities of tone colour and sound\, and features a mixed musical style based on classical contemporary music\, Chinese tunes\, Gamelan music\, minimalism\, and popular music\, amongst other influences. In March 2017\, he received the Grand Prize of Best Orchestra Work by Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra International Composition Competition. His current project is “Stillness in Queens\,” a collaborative cross-disciplinary work with video artist Karen Y. Chan and is partly funded by Queens Council On The Arts. He is currently the Composer-In-Residence of Teng Company (Singapore) and Vivo Experimental Orchestra (Malaysia). He graduated from Indiana University and Central Conservatory of Music\, majoring in music composition. http://www.junyichow.com \nKaren Y. Chan  \nKaren Y. Chan (b. 1975\, New York City) works with video\, film\, and sound to explore the relationships between space\, time\, and memory. Using her own fragmented memories as raw materials\, she creates visual meditations\, giving shape to the enigmatic forces that free and seize the mind. Chan holds degrees from New York University and The New School. Her work has been shown locally and nationally at the Queens Museum\, Horton Gallery\, NURTUREart Gallery\, Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art\, BronxArtSpace\, Vox Populi\, Roman Susan\, ACRE TV/Fernwey Gallery\, Rochester Contemporary Art Center\, Alexander Calder Fine Arts Center\, and more. Chan lives in Queens and works in Brooklyn\, N.Y. http://www.karenychan.com \nMiyoko Satoh \nMiyoko Satoh is a CRS Healer and practices Spiritual Counseling\, Energy Healing\, Crystal Singing Bowl Healing\, and Guided meditation. She was born and raised in Japan. In her childhood she awakened to her spiritual awareness of the world beyond. In 2001\, she began studying A Course in Miracles and meditation\, further developing her spiritual awareness.  In 2004\, she began spiritual counseling and energy healing work.  She offers private healing sessions\, counseling for relationships\, career etc.\, and sound healing with crystal singing bowls.
