SUMMARY:Native American Drum Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce that ONACNY is offering a Native American Drum Making Workshop to our community in September 2019. We are honored to invite Squamish native elder Tsawaysia Spukwus (aka. Alice Guss) from British Columbia\, Canada to lead the workshop. \nAbout Native American Drum-Making & Birthing: \n“Making your own drum begins a journey – as you will transform Mother Nature’s Gift into a musical instrument.” \n“Drums have been used for thousands of years and by many cultures. The drum beat works as a conduit connecting the resonance sound of the human heartbeat and the rhythm of the heartbeat of Mother Earth. When the drum dries\, we keep the heartbeat alive by beating the drum. Our culture teaches us that the more drums played\, the more harmony\, connection\, and understanding we have of one mind\, one body and one spirit.” ~ Tsawaysia Spukwas \nWorkshop Outline: \nFirst Day ~ Making the Sacred Drum: \n\nSacred Circle Introduction\nCeremonial Welcoming Song\nPassing of the Eagle Feather\nMaterials & Instruction\n   Native Songs & Storytelling\, Legends\, Teachings of making a drum prior to European contact\n\nDeadline for Registration & Payment:  August 20th\, 2019. To register or for any questions\, please reply to this invitation\, email: onacny@gmail.com.
\n日時: 9月28日（土） 1:30PM ~ 3:00PM  (日本語）\n10月6日（日）   1:30PM ~ 3:00PM   (英語) \nスタジオ: CRS ＠White room \n受講料: 無料 \n持参: 靴下 または 足袋 \n申込＆問い合わせ: gekyouman@gmail.com \n講師: 三輪万葉\nStarted Noh at the age of 14. Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts\, majored in Noh theater. Trained at Kanze School of Noh under the tutelage of their leading actor in Tokyo. Since moving to NY in 2004\, collaborating with artists from different media to develop the art of Noh in contemporary forms. Now a member of the Noh Society US\, facilitating educational programs for Japanese traditional performing arts by actors from Japan. \n
