FreeExperience a moment of stillness from your busy life in NYC, and let the energy flow with Noh dance Shimai, which is called “a moving Zen meditation”. Center your body and expand your imagination with Noh chanting Utai, which requires deep breath.
Noh is a Japanese traditional form of art consisting of music, dance, and drama originated in the 14thcentury. It’s commonly considered that Noh is a performance to see in modern days, but Noh was a performance “to perform” in old days. In medieval in Japan Noh was practiced for a physical training as well as mindfulness for being aware of the moment to survive and live out in a turbulent period.
In this workshop you will experience a short segment of Noh chanting Utai and Noh dance Shimai after a lecture on the history and the time and space of Noh.
