\tCRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing)\u00a0and\u00a0Melloweb\u00a0invite you to attend and discuss a work-in-progress screening of Part One of\u00a0award-winning filmmaker Rodrigo Dorfman’s “Occupy the\u00a0Imagination: Tales of Seduction and Resistance.”\u00a0Filmed during the heated years of 2011 and 2012 in Chile and the USA,\u00a0“Occupy the Imagination” is an epic documentary in three parts dealing with the triumph and crisis of capitalism from the perspective of cultural resistance.
\nThe one-hour screening will take place on\u00a0Sunday, Sept 16, 2012 at 7 pm at CRS\u00a0and will be followed by a Q&A with Mr. Dorfman.

\nThe film is a meditation on the power of the imagination to reclaim our right to dream a different world. Taking aim at a system that seduces us into being accomplices\u00a0of our own destruction, the film\u00a0celebrates individuals working across the Americas to create alternative spaces of resistance.\u00a0
\n\tPart One, “Meditations on a Failed Revolution,” focuses on the culturally insurgent capitalist propagandizing of Donald Duck and the sucesses and failures of the Occupy movement and of\u00a0the leftist movement in Chile.\u00a0
\nParts Two and Three continue the whirlwind journey through the hyper capitalist dream machine, examining the phonomenon of Joe the Plumber, the Latino economic empowerment movement, and the Gay “Che” of Chile, among others. Taken together, these stories help us better\u00a0understand how we are seduced\u2014and how we can better resist\u2014a system that appeals to our deepest desires. \u00a0\u00a0
\nThe Q&A will be moderated by\u00a0Greg Hittelman,\u00a0Director of Communictions and Strategic Development of the\u00a0Confict Awareness Project.\u00a0
\nRodrigo\u00a0Dorfman\u00a0is an award winning filmmaker and multimedia producer who has worked with\u00a0POV, HBO, Salma Hayek’s Ventanazul and the BBC, among others. His films have been screened at some of the top international film festivals in the world\u00a0(Toronto, Full Frame, Edinburgh, Telluride, Human Rights Watch). With his father he has won best screenplay award from the Writer’s Guild of Great Britain for “Prisoners in Time” (1997).\u00a0His screenplay “Shaheed” is currently in development with White Pine Pictures (Canada), with Jeremy Podeswa attached to direct. Mr.\u00a0Dorfman recently won the Jury Award for Best\u00a0Short\u00a0at the Full Frame Film Festival.
