CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) presents\u00a0O Solo Trio, an evening of improvised exigencies and set solo works, conceived and performed by Ara Fitzgerald, Hannah Fox & Heather Harpham of Ladies’ Lab. This evening-length work will include new solos from each member of Ladies’ Lab, an\u00a0 NYC troupe of dance\/theater makers.
\nTheir solo pieces swing from a rollicking retelling of the saucy play, Lysistrata, written by Aristophanes, in which one woman conjures a way to end war with (or without) sex (Fitzgerald); to a dedicated voyeur who can’t tear her eyes away from everyday life as it plays out on the street below or the on screen (Fox); to a woman vacillating whether to bring a new life to the planet or attempt a tricky mid-life refashioning of everything she knows (Harpham).\u00a0 Woven between their solo work, the Ladies’ Lab will improvise using the precepts of Action Theater, Choreographic Improvisation and Viewpoints to create theater that arises unexpectedly, with specificity and beauty that can include anything from fortune-reading crones to school girls skipping stones.\u00a0

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
\nAra Fitzgerald
\n\tAra Fitzgerald’s dance theatre work has been produced at venues including Fringe NYC, Dance Theatre Workshop, 92 St. Y, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, The Knitting Factory, The Construction Company, The Yard, The Dragon\u2019s Egg and The DanceNow Festival. She was a member of The Workgroup, directed by Daniel Nagrin and The Entourage Music and Theatre Ensemble and a guest artist with George Russell and De Facto Dance. Current repertory includes, \u201cThe Adventures of The Ever Fragmenting Woman (PG35)\u201d and the honor of performing \u201cLife of a Flower\u201d by Lotte Goslar. A graduate of Connecticut College (BA) and Wesleyan University (MALS) she has taught at Connecticut College, The National Theatre Institute, Trinity Square Conservatory and is Associate Director of Dance and Theatre at Manhattanville College.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0

\nHannah Fox
\n\tHannah Fox is an Associate Professor in the Dance and Theatre department at Manhattanville College. She conducts workshops internationally, teaching and performing most recently in Cuba, Germany, Norway, Japan, Hong Kong, Northern Ireland, and Brazil. Hannah is the artistic director of Big Apple Playback Theatre (BAPT), an improvisational physical theatre troupe in which actors perform audience members\u2019 life stories. Hannah\u2019s articles have appeared in TDR (The Drama Review) (2007), Contact Quarterly (2009), and Utne Reader (2010) and her most recent book is called, Zoomy Zoomy: Improv Games and Exercises for Groups (2010). Hannah is a certified yoga instructor and most happy when she is upsidedown.\u00a0

\nHeather Harpham
\n\tHeather Harpham is a writer and performer of physical theater whose solo performances have been presented widely in New York City venues including on Theater Row and at The Looking Glass Theater. Her solo piece Happiness\u00a0was most recently presented as part of the All For One Festival at Theater 80 St. Marks. She has taught master classes in physical theater and improvisation at NYU, The Neighborhood Playhouse, Mulenberg College, Sarah Lawrence College, Manhattanville College and Oglethorpe University. Her writing has received an Independent Artist Grant from the Marin Arts Council, the Brenda Ueland Prose Prize and a grant from the Barbara Demming Memorial Fund for Women.\u00a0
