\nWHO WE ARE
\n\u00a0
\nAdHoc is a vibrant, growing ensemble of vocalists and instrumentalists based in New York City. \u00a0We’re inspired primarily by early music, but we also believe that tradition can be played with. \u00a0We perform about half of our pieces off the score, as the composer intended. The rest is experimental–our “ad hoc” repertoire. \u00a0Always looking for fresh ways to fuse new and old, we might explore how an oratorio would sound when reduced to a solo voice and guitar, or how an Italian aria could be reworked in a jazz setting. \u00a0The composition of our ensemble is just as dynamic as our sound. \u00a0While our foundation is a core group of dedicated residents, we’re constantly seeking other NYC musicians to collaborate with us as guests on individual projects. \u00a0The result: a mashup of genres, sounds, and influences as fluid and eclectic as the city where we live and perform.\u00a0

\nWHAT WE DO
\n\u00a0
\nAn AdHoc concert is a relaxed, intimate gathering that brings people together to share food, drink, conversation, and music. \u00a0It’s a “salon” without the stuffiness. \u00a0Our events are all about community–the floor is our stage, with little space between performer and audience. On December 7th, we’re thrilled to be hosting our first holiday soiree. \u00a0We’ll provide the delicious treats, warming beverages, and a musical intermission of festive tunes, from madrigals and traditional carols to flamenco and jazz. \u00a0You bring your friends, appetite, and open ears.
