\nA Course in Miracles\u00a0(ACIM) is a psychological self study program encompassing universal spiritual themes through which one\u00a0can learn to replace fearful and judgmental thoughts with loving and forgiving thoughts and thereby develop a peaceful\u00a0and joyful mind. In this introductory lecture, we will describe how the Course came into existence, what its universal\u00a0spiritual themes are, and how the Course structure and exercises are designed to achieve its intended results. If there is\u00a0time, we will also practice a meditation exercise drawn from the Course to provide an experience of what doing the\u00a0Course is actually like.
\nGnosticNYC exists to promote the practice of Gnostic spirituality in New York City by providing events, programs, and a place to meet and worship.<\/p>\n
About the Speakers
\nYasuko Kasaki, born in Tokyo, Japan, is a novelist, journalist, spiritual counselor and teacher of\u00a0A Course in Miracles\u00a0(ACIM). She began offering spiritual counseling, reading, instruction and healing based on ACIM to individuals and groups\u00a0in 1999 and in 2004 opened CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing), a private community center in New York City\u2019s\u00a0East Village dedicated to the teaching and practice of ACIM and the healing and creative arts. Offering ACIM-based\u00a0classes, meditation, energy healing and private counseling (as well as lectures, workshops, film screenings and\u00a0performances) to the public seven days a week, CRS is the first and only school and center for ACIM in New York City.\u00a0She has written 14 books on ACIM in Japanese, published by Natural Spirit Publishing Inc, as well as more than a dozen\u00a0novels and collections of essays.\u00a0Many of Ms. Kasaki\u2019s students have also begun to offer psycho-spiritual healing and\u00a0instruction at CRS and elsewhere, outside NYC and throughout Japan.\u00a0
\nChristopher Pelham\u00a0is Director and co-founder of CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing). He began studying\u00a0A Course in Miracles\u00a0with\u00a0Yasuko Kasaki in 2003 and began offering spiritual healing this year. Something of a jack-of-all-trades, he has worked as an actor, a journalist\u00a0and copy editor, a curator and producer, a videographer and editor, a director, a web designer…. He believes that we are fundamentally and\u00a0essentially unlimited creative beings and that the purpose of the creative act is to share the experience of remembering this knowledge of who\u00a0we really are. Therefore, he sees art and healing as having the same function but different forms. At CRS, he tries to facilitate both.
