New York Japan CineFest 2016
June 2日, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm UTC+0
CRS is proud to support the New York Japan CineFest! Highlighting some of the most exciting new voices in cinema, New York Japan CineFest is an annual event that features works by emerging Japanese and Japanese American filmmakers. Two programs of short films are presented in this year’s edition. Program 1 on Thursday, June 2 is followed by a reception. Program 2 on Friday, June 3 is followed by a discussion.
Tickets: $8 members; $10 students/seniors; $12 nonmembers. Co-presented by Asia Society and Mar Creation, Inc. Part of Citi series on Asian Arts and Culture.
While all the films are worthy and interesting, we’d like to single out “Amongst” by Chisa Hidaka, which opens program 2. Dr. Hidaka is world renowned for her work studying and dancing with dolphins and has previously presented at CRS. Her under water dancing, her communication and connection with the dolphins, and her ability to capture this on screen is breathtaking, and inspiring in the way that she brings together her professional experience and artistic ability and passions to create a unique and fulfilling path for herself that she can share with her fellow humans.
