Exhibition: Celestial Mandala — Works on Paper by Heejung Kim

CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) presents “Celestial Mandala,” an exhibition featuring recent ink works on paper by Korean artist Heejung Kim. Her art is influenced by Tibetan Mandala paintings, especially by the patterns and symbols found in them. Her star-like images come from actual dreams she has had since her childhood. Using repetition like the mantras in meditation, Heejung pushes her creative visions into a hypnotic space carrying the viewer into a surreal sense of illusion and the feeling of moving through a vast void. The exhibition will be on view from May 31 – July 31, 2019. CRSが今年自信を持ってプロデュースしている Crossing Boundaries Concert シリーズ第5弾です。韓国籍の女性アーティストたちによる、仏教をテーマにしたコンサート兼ビジュアルアートのイベントです。 CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) presents CROSSING BOUNDARIES Concert Series Vol. 5:  ROSE OF SHARON, curated by gamin. “Rose of Sharon” is the national flower of Korea and so represents the people’s identity. This performance employs both Korean traditional music (Yeonsanheosang, one of the most representative Korean traditional court music compositions) and contemporary art (mandala paintings) inspired by Buddhism.
