Concert: Akiko Togo and Duo Romi & Soli — 5/30/15

CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) presents an intimate evening of R&B by Akiko Togo and original Brazilian music by Romi and Soli on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15.
About Akiko Togo
Akiko Togo (vocal & piano) was born on Kikai Island, which is a small island located south of the main Japanese islands. She started to play music when she was four years old. She was influenced by classical, jazz, soul, R&B and her island’s folk music. She has toured Japan numerous in support of her debut album, “Home Sweet Home,” which was released on April 18, 2013. She’s now visiting New York to further her musical exploration.

Romi and Soli mix a variety of styles of Brazil’s most celebrated music:  samba, baião and bossa-nova. The songs that they will be playing are all originals.
Soli – Vocal, Guitar
Romi – Keyboard
Soli is a singer–song–writer/producer from Bahia, Brazil. He sings lyrics in both Portuguese and English on top of his guitar accompaniment, combining different rhythm patterns from Brazil including Baião. He loves to freely fuse many styles of music for lifting up the spirits.
*Baião is a traditional style of music in north-east Brazil. 
Romi is a pianist/composer from Japan. She’s performed in Japan and the US with various ensembles. She has also worked as producer/engineer in the music/recording industry. She holds a BA in Piano from Kunitachi College of Music and a MA in music composition from Queens College.
