Exhibition: Regeneration — Works by Tomoko Abe
CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) is delighted to announce an exhibition of designs by Clouds AO, the award-winning designers of our new third-floor facilities. Their design for our 3rd floor White Room studio was recently named one of "nine yoga studios that achieve design nirvana" by HOMESTOLOVE magazine. The two-part installation piece in this exhibition is intended to expand the lobby space of CRS and create a vision of "Space Beyond" where speculative concepts are presented in architectural scale, integrated into the underlying structure of the space. The exhibition opens Dec 23, 2015 and runs through January 31, 2016. An Opening Reception will be held on January 23, 2016.

CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) 41 E 11st St. 11th Fl., New YorkCRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) では、安倍知子氏によるコラージュ作品の展示を２月２３日から４月２５日までの期間、開催いたします。
アーティストを迎えてのオープニングレセプションは、２月２７日の６時から８時まで。
作品は、オブジェや セラミックス、ガラス、そして紙を使い、キャンパスの上を３Dのようにたくさんの泡たちが溢れるように構成されています。キャンパスに散らばったものの中には、わたしたち人間社会が放り出した自然環境の中に残骸となるものなど、美しさとは対極のようにあるものを思い起こし、その矛盾さえも定義しているように感じます。
彼女が再生しているものは、朽ちていくであろうオブジェたちの声を再び聞き取り、変容してもなおかつ、この世界の中で長く生き残るもののようです。
最初に直面するのは、不釣り合いな突き出した星座のように見えるバブルたち。空想的で太陽が一つの命をこっそり盗んだようにキャンバスが焦げていたりします。不思議に思うのは、残存するものを近くによって覗きこんでみると、これらのものの思考状態を改めて体験しているように感じること。そしてこの複雑な考えに思いを巡らせてみると、わたしたちと環境とのほろ苦い関係性に気づかずにはいられません。
Butoh Workshop with Gio Kusanagi
CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) 41 E 11st St. 11th Fl., New YorkCRS presents an 8-week drop-in Butoh workshop with visiting artist Gio Kusanagi. Gio Kusanagi studied Butoh (Japanese avant-garde dance) with Moe Yamamoto, Toru Iwashita, Kunisuke Kamiryo, Yoshito Ohno (son of Kazuo Ohno), Yukio Waguri, Seisaku & Yuri, Ko Muroboshi, and Kayo Mikami and a Butoh-inspired interpretive dance with Akira Kasai. CRS has a long history of presenting Butoh performance and training. Butoh artists to teach at CRS in the past include Shinichi Momo Koga, Tanya Calamoneri, and Mariko Endo, among others.
